Tech21 Partners with Homelessness Charity Spear
Tech21 is committed to making a meaningful contribution to local communities and a positive impact on the world. As part of this commitment, tech21 has launched a new program of activities in partnership with local charities and created a ‘Pass It On’ policy which allows all employees to take 3 paid days a year to volunteer on charitable projects.
The first partnership is with ‘SPEAR’, a charity for people experiencing homelessness in Southwest London where tech21’s global headquarters are located. SPEAR has been transforming lives for 30 years after the tragic deaths of two rough sleepers on the banks of the Richmond River Thames in 1987.
SPEAR works with vulnerable people to help get them off the streets and find accommodation whilst supporting physical and mental health needs. Also supporting education and training for our clients to help them toward independence.
Heidi Shrimpton, Head of Fundraising at SPEAR said: ‘The local community remain at the heart of everything we do – funding our services, volunteering in our projects and partnering with us on new initiatives. It is wonderful that Tech 21 – a company based locally to SPEAR are supporting their community in this way. They have already hit the ground running with their volunteering at our hostels and we are looking forward to their future initiatives and events.’
Tech21 will support SPEAR through volunteering, donations and fundraising. Employees will help with hostel maintenance, annual street counts and food storage sorting. In addition, tech21 will also participate in fundraising activities including; cycling, runs, sponsored sleep-outs and by participating in London’s annual Great River Race.
To begin the partnership, tech21 employees spent 4 days in July painting and gardening at local SPEAR hostels. All materials have been donated to SPEAR projects by tech21 and paint was provided by Crown Decorating Centres in Twickenham, who generously provided a discount.
