Are screen protectors worth it? Do I need it? Is it necessary?
Yes! If you’re glued to your phone for hours every day, do not compromise it by not having the best screen protector. Although advances in glass and coatings on screens have been cutting-edge, it can still be scratched (sometimes by a single grain of sand in your pocket!). There’s nothing worse than a scratched screen, so don’t take your chances.
Film or tempered glass? Which is the best screen protector for my phone?
It depends on what you’re looking for. Film lasts longer, glass looks better. All screen protectors provide an extra layer of protection for your screen. If you tend to drop your phone a lot, or have kids treat your £800 iPhone like a throwable toy, then go with film. Other than that, go with tempered glass.
Tech21 Impact Shield screen protector is available in Self-Heal, Glass (tempered glass) and Anti-Scratch. They provide the best protection for your screen whilst being responsive and do not compromise the clarity of the screen. Impact Shield Self-Heal is hard to believe but true to its name. It’s built with a super-unique formula that magically smooths out nasty scruffs and scratches. Impact Shield Glass is our favourite. This tempered glass screen protector is slightly thicker but tough. It feels smooth to the touch, like your original screen but is scratch and fingerprint resistant. It will be more expensive, but it is worthwhile. Albeit the Impact Shield Anti-Scratch is ultra-thin, it’s packed with layers of scratch-resistant protection.
Do tempered glass screen protectors really work? Is It good for my phone?
Tempered glass screen protectors are typically thicker but tough and robust. It feels smooth to the touch, like your original screen. Not only it offers better protection than film protectors, it is scratch and fingerprint resistant. It will be more expensive, but it is worthwhile.
Do screen protectors prevent cracks?
Screen protectors help protect screens from scratches which weaken the structural display of your phone. If left without protection, it may lead up to larger scratches and even cracks. It’s beneficial to get your screen protected but don’t expect them to save your phone if it suffers from serious bashings (reality check!)
How to apply a glass screen protector?
Make sure that you find a non-dusty environment. Place your phone down on a flat desk and clean its screen with wet wipe. Next, use a microfibre cloth to wipe it dry. Remove your screen protector from its packaging and position it over the screen to check alignment and clearance of camera spots/microphone holes. Carefully peel back the screen protector’s backing and place the sticky side onto the screen of your phone. Using a flat card like your credit card, smooth out any bubbles. Refer our ‘How to screen protector’ blog. This method works for tempered glass screen protectors too!
Can you remove a screen protector?
Yes, you can. Using a flat card like your credit card will do the trick. Start off from any edge, gently peel the screen protector up with the credit card and slowly lift the screen protector. Use a wet wipe to clean your screen followed by a microfibre cloth. Now your screen is ready for a new screen protector.
Can I re-apply my screen protector?
If the adhesive layer is not damaged, then it should be alright! Starting from any edge of your screen protector, use a flat card like your credit card to slowly peel and gently lift the screen protector. Clean the screen and screen protector with the wet wipe. Use a microfibre cloth to dry the surface of the screen. Gently re-apply the screen protector and smooth out any bubbles with your credit card.
