Are you ready for the biggest game in the American Football calendar year? This is Super Bowl 51, or Super Bowl LI, known for the spectacle of the Super Bowl halftime show and the commercial which make the headlines too. It’s not all about the football!

So, when is Super Bowl LI, who is playing, where are they playing, how do you watch it, who is performing at the halftime show, and what else do you need to know?! We have all the answers for you…

Who is playing?

Super Bowl 51 will be between AFC champion New England Patriots and NFC champions Atlanta Falcons.

This is the finale of the NFL season and is sure to provide entertainment with the 2 highest scoring teams from both leagues, and will be a record-breaking 9th Super Bowl appearance from the Patriots!


When is it?

It is this Sunday, 5th February 2017, and kicks off at 6.30 pm ET on Fox. You will also be able to stream the match on the Fox Sports Go app.

For UK viewers this means it starts at 11.30 pm, which means a late finish around 3.30 am on Monday. You will be able to watch it on BBC or Sky Sports. It will start at 11.25 pm on BBC, however you will get an extra 1 hour and 20 minutes of build up coverage on Sky.


Where is it being held?

It will be played at the 72,000 NRG Stadium in Houston. This is the home of the Houston Texans football team.

The stadium has played host to the showpiece event before, Super Bowl XXXVIII, in which the Patriots beat the Carolina Panthers 32-29. This was also the venue for the famous Super Bowl Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction.


Who will be performing?

The one and only Lady Gaga will be performing during the prestigious Super Bowl halftime show, or the ‘Pepsi Zero Sugar Super Bowl Halftime Show’ as it will be officially called. It will be Gaga’s second time performing on a Super Bowl stage after she sang the national anthem at Super Bowl 50. This time round country music star Luke Bryan will be signing the national anthem.
