Samsung Galaxy S8 vs Galaxy S8 +: How do they compare?

Samsung’s new flagship device is here, and as expected there are two sizes- the Galaxy S8, and the larger plus-sized Galaxy S8+.

At a glance it is easy to see the different in the two devices… the size! The S8 has a 5.8” screen while the S8+ boasts a massive 6.2” screen, and also retains the Infinity Super AMOLED Quad HD+ display. To accommodate the larger screen, the S8+ is over 10mm taller than the S8, around 5mm wider and 21g heavier. The S8+ also has an upgraded 3500 mAh battery, with the S8 having a 3000mAh battery. Screen and Display-

The S8 has a 5.8” screen while the S8+ has a larger 6.2” screen, whilst keeping the Super AMOLED HD+ display. Both have the same 2960x1440px resolution, however the S8 packs in more pixels per inch of screen, offering 570 versus 529 ppi on the S8+.

Design-

The S8+ is larger and heavier than the S8 to accommodate the larger screen. They both will be available in five colors: Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue, Maple Gold.

Cameras-

The cameras on both the S8 and S8+ are the same, with the same 12-megapixel primary rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front “selfie” camera. The primary camera supports 720p at 240 fps for slow-mo shots, and shoots 4K video at 30fps when in regular video mode.

Performance-

The Galaxy S8 is the first phone in the U.S. to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, which Samsung say is more efficient than previous processors, which should result in faster speeds and longer battery life.

Storage-

Both handsets have 4GB of RAM, which is standard for any flagship device. The storage for the S8 and S8+ has been upgraded from the S7 from 32GB to 64GB. You can also expand the storage up to 256GB.

Price-

So how much extra do you pay for the S8+?

You can get the Galaxy S8 for around $750, and you can get the S8+ for around $850. So, in a nutshell for $100 extra you can get a bigger screen and battery. If this appeals to you then the plus size is probably for you.
