Amazon’s Glasses-Free 3D Display

A glasses-free 3D display will be a main feature, powered by 6 cameras. A main camera is for taking pictures, a sub-camera is for video conferencing and the other 4 are thought to be for gesture control purposes, allowing users to operate the phone without touching it.

The 4 extra cameras trace the whereabouts of the user’s face and eyes in relation to the phone’s screen display. Built-in software then makes adjustments to screen resolution, which adjusts perspective. This creates a 3D experience without the need for glasses.

Benefits of a 3D Screen Display

According to BGR, the 3D display will give Amazon’s first smartphone the following features:

-    3D product images for Amazon’s services and stores

-    Wallpapers with perspectives that shift depending on the angle

-    3D application icons

-    Some apps, such as Maps, to provide varying views of objects on the screen

It’s thought that Amazon’s smartphone will be the first of a series that the company is currently working on, and will run on an adapted version of Google Android.
