HTC One M9 vs Galaxy S6
We checked out the latest gadgets from HTC and Samsung at Mobile World Congress 2015. What are the features and benefits of the two, and how do they match up against each other?
M9 boasts a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810, which as the staff at MWC explained to us means that it’s a great device on which to watch movies or play battery demanding games. Combined with 3GB of Ram, HTC’s M9 is certainly one of the most powerful smartphones to date.
In team Samsung, Galaxy S6 features its own 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor together with a 3GB RAM.
In terms of software, Samsung’s TouchWiz software comes with less apps installed, leaving more space for the apps you choose to download and enjoy on S6’s Lollipop framework.
HTC also features Android 5.0 Lollipop, but with its own Sense 7.0 software in addition to this. We were attracted to the feature which allows users to organise their apps according to their location at home or work.
A quick look at the HTC displays no huge difference between M9 and last year’s M8, but Samsung’s S6 features newly designed metal sides and a glass back, which although is slightly similar to S5, does have a more superior look and feel.
S6 features no water resistant materials or removable battery however.
A first look at an Impactology™ protected HTC One M9
HTC’s M9 features a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel screen, with integrated LCD technology to boost the screen display, but S6’s Super AMOLED 5.1 inch 1440 x 2560 pixel QHD screen is one of the brightest, clearest most smartphone displays in the world. Of course, Samsung’s S6 Edge takes this quality of display to the next level with an innovative curved edge screen design.
So how do the device’s camera’s match up?
Around the back of the M9 is a heavy-duty 20MP camera, with M8’s 4MP UltraPixel lens at the front. Although Samsung doesn’t match up to that, the S6’s 16MP camera is superior to the HTC’s Sony powered version. HTC’s camera does however include an optical image stabilization technology to improve photograph quality and enhance user experiences.
HTC’s M9 has a 2800mAh battery, which is an improvement from the M8. Samsung has gone for a 2550mAh battery for the Galaxy S6. That is less than the one featured in the S5, and less than the M9.

It's too early to tell which will be the most popular device. These two smartphones are very impressive, both have a sleek, minimalistic design, with the S6 having a larger screen.
